duolingoで英語学習と並行して中国語の勉強も続けておりますが、中国語(簡体字)…やはり面白い。
I am continuing to study Chinese in parallel with learning English on duolingo. Chinese (Simplified Chinese)...still interesting.
「学生」「猫」など同じ漢字を使うことも多いですが、「先生」は「老师」と書いたり「犬」は「狗」です。面白い。
We often use the same kanji for "student," "cat," etc. "Teacher" is written as "老师" and "dog" is "狗." Interesting.
繁体字もduolingoにあれば良かったなあと思います。
I wish there were also traditional Chinese characters in duolingo.

漢字の変換ミスKanji conversion mistakes
漢字の変換ミスは、気を付けないと頻繁に起こります。今この文章を入力していても、漢字→感じ、起こります→怒ります、になりそうでした。(笑)
Kanji conversion mistakes happen frequently if you are not careful. Even as I type this sentence now, I almost made a mistake.
(漢字、感じ、Kanji)
(起こります、怒ります、Okorimasu)
さっきも文字を入力し、「よし、オッケー」と思っていた文章を見返したら…『感覚を開ける』になっていました。
The other day I typed in a sentence and thought, "Okay", but when I looked back at the sentence, I saw this 『感覚を開ける(Kankaku Wo Akeru)』.
デジタル入力変換だとさもありなんと意図しない変換が一番先頭に出てきたりするので困りますね。(｡-_-｡)
It's not good when you are using digital input conversion, because the unintended conversion comes up at the top of the list.
正しくは『間隔を空ける』ですね。手書きだと変換ミスはあまり起こらないのですが、まあそれ以前に漢字が正しく書けなかったり思い出せなかったりするのですが…。
The correct conversion is this 『間隔を空ける(Kankaku Wo Akeru)』. With handwriting, conversion mistakes are less likely to occur, but before that, I can't write or remember the kanji correctly...😑

紅葉狩りの季節が近づいてきた
(Autumn leaf viewing season is approaching.)
紅葉狩り(Momiji-Gari)：To enjoy viewing the autumn leaves.
言葉狩り(Kotoba-Gari)：Making unreasonable demands and preventing them from using certain words.
いちご狩り(Ichigo-Gari)：A strawberry harvesting experience offered by the farm to the general public.
きのこ狩り(Kinoko-Gari)：Gathering wild mushrooms for cooking.
鷹狩り(Taka-Gari)：A type of hunting in which tame hawks are released into the wilds.
狩られる側かと思いきや狩る側になったりするのでややこしい言葉たち。
These are complicated words because they can be the hunter as well as the hunted.

『ロード・オブ・ザ・リング』の話ですが、この邦題、今更ながらとても「日本だなー！」と思いました。
The Lord of the Rings, this Japanese title, even after all this time, is very Japanese! I thought.
The Lord of the Rings→ロード・オブ・ザ・リング…最初のTheもなければ、ringsも複数形にせずリングという表記……やべーね？(笑)
The Lord of the Rings -> ロードオブザリング...without the first "the" and without pluralizing "s". Yabaine(lol).
日本では日本語の音の良さを優先させるために複数形のsを端折った表記や言い方がほとんどなので、結構意味が変わってくるだろって思いますね。
In Japan, the plural "s" is almost always written or said without the plural "s" in order to give priority to the good sound of the Japanese language, so I think the meaning would change quite a bit.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
プライムビデオで『ロードオブザリング 力の指輪』が配信され始めましたね。ロードオブザリングが好きなので嬉しいです。私はホビットの方も含めてDVDを持っているのですが、周りはみんなハリーポッター派です。
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is now available on Prime Video. I'm glad because I love Lord of the Rings. I have the DVDs, including the Hobbit one, but everyone around me is in the Harry Potter faction.
ハリーポッターは一応全部観ましたが、私はやはりロードオブザリング派です。
I have seen all of the Harry Potter ones, but I am still in the Lord of the Rings faction.
続きのストーリーが更新されるのが楽しみです！

納豆Natto
食事記録をつけ始めたことをきっかけに、以前より納豆を頻繁に食べるようになりました。ちゃんとタンパク質を摂ろうという気持ちが芽生えたためです。
I started keeping a food diary, which led me to eat natto more frequently than before. This is because I have become more motivated to take in proper protein.
納豆は種類が豊富です。
Natto comes in many varieties.
↑小粒納豆
Small Beans Natto (Kotsubu Natto)
↑ひきわり納豆
Crushed Natto (Hikiwari Natto)
他にも大粒納豆や黒豆納豆など豆の種類が違ったり、たれの味なども違ったりするので人によって好みがばらばらです。
There are also different types of beans, such as big beans natto and black beans natto, and different flavors of sauce, etc., so people have different tastes.
いろんな種類の納豆を食べてみたいなと今思いました。……ほんとやってみたいな。
I just thought that I would like to try different kinds of natto. ......I really want to try it.

ゴーヤ(bitter gourd)
夏が終わろうとしていると思いきや、まだまだ暑い日もありますね。めっちゃ夏の空だな〜と思って写真を撮ったり。
Summer was coming to an end, but there are still some hot days. I thought it was a very summer sky, so I took a picture.
今年の夏は3回ぐらいゴーヤチャンプルを作って食べました。苦味が最高〜！(画像はゴーヤのみですが、この後他の食材を投入しております。)
I made and ate Goya(bitter gourd) stir-fry about three times this summer.The bitterness is great! (The image shows only bitter gourd, but other ingredients are added later.)
ゴーヤ(ゴーヤー)ってニガウリとも言うけどどういう名称の使い分けなんだろう？と思って調べたところ、正式名称(生物学上の名称)はニガウリで、ゴーヤは沖縄の方言だそうです。ほほーん！
Goya is also called Nigauri, but I wondered how the names are used. I looked it up and found that the official name (biological name) is Nigauri, while Goya is an Okinawan dialect word. I see~!
